چکیده

Investigations, which are related to plasma efficiency on the treated leather surface, significant in development of ecologically and economically friendly processes obtaining material desired functional properties. Through pretreatments using different chemical-physical reactions surface layer occurred resulting improved reactivity. In this paper, modification functionalization bovine 1,2,3,4-butantetracarboxylic acid chitosan were explored. Pretreatments samples realised argon oxygen assess various influence chemically reactive inert gas. Two leathers -chrome tanned with synthetic tanning agent (Cr-free) chosen for treatments. Analyse morphology was conducted SEM microscopy, while chemical changes ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. Antimicrobial effectiveness tested qualitative Agar diffusion plate test against two bacterial Staphylococcus aureus Klebsiella pneumoniae . Obtained results indicated how applied optimized process conditions contribute improvement Achieved positively affected reactivity antimicrobial effectiveness, particularly Cr-free leather.

Modification of Glass Surface by Atmospheric Pressure Plasma

A Diffuse Coplanar Surface Barrier Discharge (DCSBS) operating in air at atmospheric pressure has been used to induce changes in the surface properties of glass. The contact angles of water drop on the surface of glass, which were measured by drop shape analysis, decreased markably with plasma treatment for 1 s. With the increasing of the plasma treatment time, the contact angles of the samples...

Surface modification of polycarbonate (bisphenol A) by low pressure rf plasma

Effects of low pressure radio frequency (rf) plasma treatment on the surface properties of polycarbonate are presented in this paper. Results obtained from the surface energy measurement after different conditions of treatment are compared. After treatment the surface free energy increased from the original value of 35 mJ/m2 to 63-74 mJ/m2. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements showed a...

Poly(dimethyl siloxane) surface modification by low pressure plasma to improve its characteristics towards biomedical applications.

Poly(dimethyl siloxane) elastomer, (PDMS) is widely used as a biomaterial. However, PDMS is very hydrophobic and easily colonized by several bacteria and yeasts. Consequently, surface modification has been used to improve its wettability and reduce bacterial adhesion. The aim of this work was to modify the PDMS surface in order to improve its hydrophilicity and bacterial cell repulsion to be us...

Mechanisms behind surface modification of polypropylene film using an atmospheric-pressure plasma jet

Plasma treatments are common for increasing the surface energy of plastics, such as polypropylene (PP), to create improved adhesive properties. Despite the significant differences in plasma sources and plasma properties used, similar effects on the plastic film can be achieved, suggesting a common dominant plasma constituent and underpinning mechanism. However, many details of this process are ...
